Canada Day – Biking To Roadside Johnny’s

This Canada Day we took an impromptu trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake with our pals Josh & Amanda. Josh, who grew up around Niagara, was able to lead us to a delicious farmer’s stand called Roadside Johnny’s- apparently, it’s a local secret. They don’t seem to have a Facebook, or a website, but they were packed all day. The stand was the owner’s father’s, and before that his father’s father’s. How’s that for shopping local? The food was delicious, and while they had farm fresh cherries and strawberries, the locals were all gravitating towards the cooked corn. Families would walk away with bag loads. We had both the strawberries and the corn, and by golly, it was fantastic. My stomach just gurgled while I was writing about it. (The address is 14658 Niagara Pkwy, now you’re in on the local secret too.) If you have a few hours, Tom & I would recommend renting some cruisers (we nabbed ours from Zoom Leisure) and biking your way along the lakeside on Niagara Parkway’s bike path. It will lead you all the way to Roadside Johnny’s. (It’s a 20km ride round trip- you’ll love it!)
