The first time Sara and I went to the Brown Dog it was near my dad’s place nearly 30 minutes away from us. It was a smaller café that had that local vibe to it and did its best to be old-timey while still offering all of the fancy drinks that a place like Starbucks does plus actual food.
It turned out that the food was really good, the drinks were on par with Snobby Coffee Shop #6 and the apple fritters…
The apple fritters are enough to travel several hundreds of miles for. Typically when I’m talking about apple fritters I imagine the donut type of apple fritter you get at Tim Hortons and the like– the apple fritters at brown dog reinvent that. They are actual apple slices, battered and fried and then topped with some brown sugar. They’re easily the most delicious apple fritter I’ve ever had and I usually get at least one every time we go.
This particular Brown Dog Cafe in the pictures here opened up only five minutes away from our house, which is very exciting. It’s become somewhat of a regular spot for us and we’re hoping to enjoy this new (And much bigger) location before people find out about it and it gets too crowded to have a relaxing drink and a hot bowl of soup.
